A minimum of 3 years prior experience is required and a valid Certification from the Department of Community Affairs is highly preferred. Responsibilities include reviewing building department applications for completeness, processing construction permits, determining applicable fees, scheduling inspections, providing information, and retaining records. Candidate must possess strong organizational, customer service and communication skills. Must be detail-oriented, proficient in Microsoft Office and computer skills. The Town of Phillipsburg is seeking seasonal laborers for the Department of Public Works. Applicants must be eighteen (18) years of age or older and shall have a valid NJ Driver’s License. Laborer duties may include, but are not limited to: road maintenance, solid waste and recycling pick up, park maintenance, building maintenance, maintenance of landscaped areas, sports fields, sports courts and parking lots of assigned facilities and other work involving various public works projects. Applicants must have the ability to lift and move moderately heavy objects and be able to work in all types of weather. Weekend availability is a must. Flexible hours (approximately 40 hours/ week) for a maximum 9 month period. Superintendent of Recreation- Full-Time or Part-Time
The Town of Phillipsburg is seeking a qualified Full-Time or Part-Time Superintendent of Recreation who plans, promotes, organizes, and administers a comprehensive recreation service for the community; does other related duties as required. Administers and operates municipal public parks, pools, playgrounds and play fields and facilities for indoor and outdoor sports, athletics and recreational programs and activities for children and adults. Sponsor and administer cultural and recreational programs and activities in cooperation with other public and private agencies and organizations such as Recreational Advisory Committee and/or in cooperation with the Senior Center. Administer and operate such parks, open space areas and community facilities as the Town may have or acquire for purposes of public recreation or conservation. Within the limits of available appropriations, cooperate and participate with other municipal, school, County, state and federal agencies in the development, administration, financing and operation of recreation and conservation programs for the use and benefit of the inhabitants of the Town. Applicant must have graduated from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s degree. Applicants who do not possess the required education may substitute additional experience. Minimum four (4) years of supervisory experience required in recreation work involving planning, promoting, organizing, and/or directing a comprehensive recreation service or program for a community.
