MECHANIC HELPER – FULL TIME 

The Town of Phillipsburg currently has an opening in the Public Works Department for a Mechanic’s Helper.  This position requires a high school diploma, a valid driver’s license and either a valid NJ commercial driver’s license, Class B air brakes or the ability to obtain same within one year of hire.   The successful candidate will assist the Mechanic with the repair and maintenance of multiple departmental equipment, as well as perform other general public works activities, as assigned.   Interested applicants should possess his/her own tools.  The position requires the ability to work for prolonged periods of time during emergencies and inclement weather.  Salary is commensurate with experience. Superintendent of Recreation- Full-Time or Part-Time

The Town of Phillipsburg is seeking a qualified Full-Time or Part-Time Superintendent of Recreation who plans, promotes, organizes, and administers a comprehensive recreation service for the community; does other related duties as required.  Administers and operates municipal public parks, pools, playgrounds and play fields and facilities for indoor and outdoor sports, athletics and recreational programs and activities for children and adults. Sponsor and administer cultural and recreational programs and activities in cooperation with other public and private agencies and organizations such as Recreational Advisory Committee and/or in cooperation with the Senior Center. Administer and operate such parks, open space areas and community facilities as the Town may have or acquire for purposes of public recreation or conservation. Within the limits of available appropriations, cooperate and participate with other municipal, school, County, state and federal agencies in the development, administration, financing and operation of recreation and conservation programs for the use and benefit of the inhabitants of the Town. Applicant must have graduated from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s degree.  Applicants who do not possess the required education may substitute additional experience.  Minimum four (4) years of supervisory experience required in recreation work involving planning, promoting, organizing, and/or directing a comprehensive recreation service or program for a community.
