New York Susquehanna & Western #142 is a Class SY 2-8-2 Mikado-type 2-8-2 steam locomotive built in 1989 by the TangShan Locomotive Work in the Peoples Republic of China. It is among the last steam locomotives built in the entire world! The Passenger cars which travel with the NYS&W # 142 are former Long Island Railroad commuter coaches built in the 1950s and beautifully restored in the 1990s.

In its inaugural excursion weekend in 2004, over 1,500 people came out to ride the NYS&W Steam Locomotive #142 powering the Delaware River Railroad Excursion train.
