Enjoy five major parks:

Walters Park at Meyner Road

  • Pavilion equipped with electricity and tables for up to 125 people.  Call early to reserve at $25 for the day.
  • Also at the park are grills and tree shaded grove areas

Shappell Park located at the point of South Main Street and Sitgreaves Street within walking distance of restaurants and shops with something for everyone.Park

Note – Parental supervision is key to a safe play experience on any playground.  Please pay close attention to the age appropriate nature of the play equipment on which your child is playing and all signage.

Annual Summer Playground Program – Watch for seasonal brochure on this Website and to be distributed through the Phillipsburg School District. 

  • Six week supervised program held from 9am to 1pm, Monday through Friday (weather permitting) for Phillipsburg residents ages 5 – 14.
  • Fun supervised activities offered but not formal child care.
  • Staffed sites to be announced throughout town including sites at schools and in the Phillipsburg Housing Authority.

  • After School Programs with homework help and tutoring, supervised recreation and education activities for grades 2 through 8 – Drop-in and Formal After School Care components.  Volunteer opportunities for teens and adults.
  • High School Program of recreation activities for grades 9 – 12 including weight room, basketball, games and more.
  • Summer Day Camp offers theme week activities of recreation and education with hours to accommodate working parents.  Swimming, trips, special presentations, and many more supervised activities for children ages 6 -14.
  • Sports programs are held in cooperation with the youth athletic clubs and the Phillipsburg Recreation Department.
  • Adult program are offered in specific areas of interest such as basketball, fitness classes, weight room, and more.

  • Grassroots committee of volunteers dedicated to the prevention of substance abuse and substance abuse prevention education.
  • Activities are held in cooperation with Big Brother/Big Sisters of Hunterdon, Sussex, and Warren Counties; the Joseph H. Firth Youth Center; Family Guidance Center of Warren County, Community Prevention Resources of Warren County; and other community organizations.

  • Funded by the New Jersey Clean Communities Council with dollars collected from litter tax on food vendors.
  • Clean Communities Crew attacks litter around town during the summer months.
