NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING

PROPOSED GREEN ACRES MAJOR DIVERSION

 

PLEASE BE ADVISED that the Town of Phillipsburg, with offices at 120 Filmore Street, Phillipsburg, New Jersey 08865 (“Town”), will hold a public hearing to obtain comments regarding its proposal to the NJDEP Green Acres Program, for the proposed major diversion of Delaware Heights Park owned by the Town.  The hearing will be held June 11, 2019 at 7:00 p.m. at 535 Fisher Avenue, Phillipsburg, NJ.

This application is subject to NJDEP Commissioner and State House Commission approval, and is available for review at The Town Clerk’s Office, 120 Filmore Street, Phillipsburg NJ, and at the Phillipsburg Free Public Library, 200 Broubalow Way, Phillipsburg NJ, and at the NJDEP Green Acres Program offices (address below).  All interested parties are invited to attend and participate in the public hearing.  In addition to oral comments presented during the hearing, written comments may be submitted to the agencies listed below.  All written comments must be received within two weeks following the hearing (by June 26, 2019).

The proposed parkland diversion will involve the installation of a subsurface electrical supply line through the park via an average 3’ deep trench running through a 10’ wide easement for approx. 1500 feet and would serve to connect a 10 MW solar farm, to be constructed by CEP Solar, located in Pohatcong Township on Blk. 93, Lt. 4 to the electric grid and will provide clean, renewable energy sufficient to power 1640 homes.  In accordance with N.J.A.C. 7:36-26.5 the Town will dedicate as compensation 4.272 acres, a portion of L. 5.05 in B. 93 located in Pohatcong Township, which is adjacent to Delaware Heights Park, as permanent park/open space.
