Online Sewer Payments

IMPORTANT MESSAGE: COVID-19 RATEPAYER RELIEF MEASURES

The State Low Income Household Water Assistance Program (LIHWAP) can help you pay arrears for your water and sewer bills. The program may also be able to help address tax liens due to water and sewer arrears. To get more information and apply, go to waterassistance.nj.gov or call NJ211.

Collection and Billing of Sewer Rents:

Sewer bills are computed on the consumption of water usage. These readings are done by Aqua Water Co. However, NO consumption would result in a minimum bill of $20.00 for residential and $25 for commercial.

Delinquent accounts are subject to interest. Accounts with prior year delinquency will be subject to the Tax Sale Law N.J.S.A. 54:5. See Tax Sale process under Taxes.

Billing Information:  

Sewer billings are mailed in January, April, July and October. All bills due 30 days from billing date with a 10 day grace period. (Example: Bill Date: January 15 Due Date: February 14 Last Day w/ no interest: February 24)

Sewer Payments:

In person located at 120 Filmore Street, Phillipsburg NJ 08865. (If making payment in our office we accept check, cash or money orders)

Online Banking  (bank mails a check): please use your Sewer Utility account number (number that ends with “S”) on your payment and mail to 120 Filmore Street, Phillipsburg NJ 08865. If paying more than one account you MUST list each account number.

Delinquent payments  should be sent to Phillipsburg Sewer Utility 120 Filmore Street, Phillipsburg NJ 08865.

Change of Ownership: 

If you are selling your home and want to receive a final bill for sewer you must contact Aqua to request a final water reading at 1-877-987-2782. Final bills are printed at the beginning of each month (i.e. if you request a final on May 12th the bill will not be processed until June 1st).

Rental Properties: 

All sewer bills remain in the property owner’s name. Delinquent sewer charges are a lienable charge and subject to the Tax Sale Laws N.J.S.A. 54: 5. If you are renting the property the sewer charges are the owner’s responsibility, not the tenant. Whatever agreement is made between the Landlord and Tenant is between the Landlord and the Tenant, and has nothing to do with the Phillipsburg Sewer Utility.
