REMINDER THAT PER TOWN CODE HOUSEHOLD GARBAGE SHOULD BE PLACED IN CONTAINERS

Recently the Department of Public Works has begun a campaign of reminding residents that per town code, specifically Ordinance 2019-23, ALL household garbage should be placed in containers for curbside pickup.  Residents are allowed up to four (4) forty-five (45) gallon containers for garbage per household.  Some residents may have received notices regarding loose items and/or loose bags placed for pickup.  Placing garbage for pickup in this manner makes the process messy, contributing to blown and scattered trash, can be unsafe for workers, slows workers down, and makes the entire operation less efficient.  All of this contributes to greater cost to residents in the form of overtime, greater tipping fees and injuries as well an overall appearance of litter.  Over the next six months the Town of Phillipsburg will continue to educate residents on the regulations around garbage pickup with the goal of a more orderly, efficient, and clean operation beginning January 2025.
